Disney — on the bus to Downtown Disney
Not sure I can capture in words how it is to do Disney alone! But, you know me, I’ll certainly try!
I arrived yesterday afternoon and got checked in yi my balcony room at the Dolphin hotel. Should’ve read the insert to my receipt better! I immediately opened my balcony curtains, marveled and photographed my view…a lively man made lagoon beach area to the left and a gorgeous pool to the right and stepped inside to post them to Facebook…just in the nick of time! My balcony was then hit with the power washer!
I went exploring around and met with the catering manager to go over the venue for Monday nights reception and then took a 1.6 mile walk to and around the boardwalk and marina resorts. Went up to my room to relax and enjoy some air conditioning ( have I mentioned how incredibly hot and muggy it is in Orlando in mid August???!!!). Was siting at my computer and glanced onto my balcony and lo and behold there was a guy in painters gear and safety tethering moving around my furniture to paint my balcony!!! I closed the curtains and relaxed a bit before going to Shula’s Steakhouse for dinner. My friend Pat had given me some restaurant.com coupons and one was for there. Well that’s definitely not a “coupon” place and even though they were really nice, it’s not a great “alone” restaurant! They’re extremely attentive there (almost To the point of pushy) and I just felt very conspicuous!
I should say I don’t really mind doing any of this stuff alone. After so many years of near imprisonment with a depressed and impossible to please alcoholic, traveling “alone” is like experiencing everything for the first time. You get to actual enjoy (or not enjoy as the case may be!) everything for yourself instead of constantly wondering or worrying if someone else is enjoying it or not. However, that said, you do realize how “odd” being alone is socially and how awkward it is for others when it’s “just you ma’am”!!!!
