10/25/2013….Clean Sheet Night….a breeze!!!

October 26, 2013

It doesn’t really get much better than showering and fresh jammies in anticipation of CLEAN SHEET NIGHT does it??!!!  Been feeling a little under the weather, not really sick, just not 100% either.  And oh so worn out, absolutely not in relation to any energy expended on my part.

I took a sick day today; and spent most of it, well, SICK!  I slept in; then got up for a while and felt crummy and then by 1:30 was back in bed again and fast asleep almost instantly.  Thankfully not for long because I don’t want to mess up the whole day/night sleep thing!

Then, without thinking too much about it, I changed the bedding; it was the turn for my favorite super-wonderful Chaps sheets from Kohls!  And I washed and double dried my comforter!  I dusted and cleaned the headboard and surfaces in bedroom.  It took me forever and I was really slow and dragging but slow-but-sure…it got done!  And my son brought up my comforter after the last dry cycle.

Happily showered late tonight and looking forward to clean sheet night!  It’s so funny how simple things like this can evoke a similar response to childhood excitement the night before an amusement park visit or anticipation of the big bowl of popcorn in Mom and Dad’s bedroom while watching The Wizard of Oz.

It’s sad that as we age, these little “thrills” get fewer and farther between!  I think that must be why so many people in my age bracket go gaga at becoming grandparents.  Since I have no grand-kids yet, I watch as an outsider as friends and relatives become grandparents and how overcome they are with emotion and obsession over their new little loves!  I’ve always loved being an Aunt, so I liken it to that as it’s the closest frame of reference I have just now.

For now, though, I’m working on the “little thrills” and trying to keep  them alive and well as often as possible!
